Machining with Teflon™
A modified formulation of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), Teflon™ is famous for its extremely low coefficient of friction, and, thanks to this, has long been used as a nonstick coating for frying pans and other cookware. It also provides high temperature resistance, high chemical resistance, and high weatherabilty; compared to regular PTFE, it exhibits better dielectric properties, greater weldability, and greater load deformation resistance. Common applications for Teflon™ include semiconductor components, bushing, bearings, cable/electrical connectors, high temperature electronics components, gears, capacitors, electrical insulators, and other diverse products.
